Requirements for the MIP Cloud Classic UI

You should meet or exceed the following system requirements. Also note the optional Alerts (IIS) Server requirements at the end of this document. 

Server:

Any computer that is running the Microsoft SQL Server, which houses the MIP database(s). This server computer could also be used as a workstation. 
Server Hardware and Software Requirements
Operating System* (choose one)
  • Windows Server 2019 
  • Windows Server 2016 (64-bit)
  • Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) Home edition or greater 

Note: The latest service pack is recommended. **See below for additional supported operating systems.
SQL Server** (choose one)
  • SQL Server 2019 (Express or greater) 
  • SQL Server 2017 (Express or greater) 
  • SQL Server 2016 (Express or greater) 
  • SQL Server 2014 (32-bit, 64-bit, and Express) 

Note: The latest service pack is recommended, and Advanced Services can be installed with the Express version of Microsoft SQL. *See below for additional supported SQL Servers.

Note: The SQL Server, regardless of version of type, must be installed using mixed-mode authentication.

Note: For systems with the Advanced Security module, full Microsoft SQL (32-bit or 64-bit) is recommended to avoid database constraints when using the Advanced Organization Audit.
Processor (CPU)
  • 2.0 GHz or faster. Dual Core or greater is preferred.

Note: Larger networks and databases require faster processors.
Framework
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2, Full Profile. 

Note: You must install this framework before running the MIP Server installation.
Memory (RAM)
  • 8 GB recommended. More memory may be required for larger databases.

Note: Please refer to your SQL Server requirements.
Available Disk Space
  • 16GB recommended.

Note: Hard Disk Space will need to increase as your database size increases. For systems with the Advanced Security module, additional space may be required depending on setup of Advanced Organization Audit.
Media, Optional
  • DVD ROM drive (Web-based product downloads are primarily utilized.)
Connectivity
  • Internet accessible with the latest browser service pack.
Additional Notes
  • A RAID array should be installed and configured depending on your tolerance for disk failure. Microsoft recommends that write-caching capabilities of disk controllers be disabled (unless the manufacturer specifically specifies SQL Server database compatibility).

Workstation(s):

Any end-user computer that is running MIP and/or the HR Management module for MIP.

Workstation Hardware and Software Requirements

  • Windows Server 2016  

Note: The latest service pack is recommended.
Framework
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2, Full Profile. 

Note: You must install this framework before running the MIP Workstation installation.
Processor (CPU)
  • 2.0 GHz or faster. Dual Core or greater is preferred.
System Memory (RAM)
  • 4 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended for optimal performance.
Available Disk Space
  • 3 GB minimum. 5 GB recommended for optimal performance.

Note: Please refer to your Operating System requirements.
Video Adapter
  • Capable of 1024×768 resolution (1280×1024 resolution optimal)
  • 32-bit color
Printer
  • Laser printer (local or network)
Connectivity
  • Internet accessible with latest browser service pack.
  • For EWS users, Windows Internet Explorer 11 is recommended.
Email
  • A SMTP email system is required for emailing within the application.

*Additional Supported Server/Workstation Operating Systems and SQL Servers: While these Operating Systems and SQL Servers are not recommended as highly as the ones listed above, the Community Brands Customer Support team will troubleshoot and help to the best of their ability. Should a Community Brands software defect be discovered on these Systems, Support will attempt to resolve the problem in a future release or will suggest a viable workaround. 

The Support team will give prior notice before ending its support of these systems. 

  • Apple macOS systems are not supported by MIP Cloud but can be accessed through a Microsoft Remote Desktop application, which is available as a free download from Microsoft. MIP does not currently offer any customer support for macOS systems.

Optional, alerts, and EWS (IIS) server:

The EWS module and Real time Alerts feature requires a server running IIS on the network. We do not recommend that it be installed on the same machine running SQL server. It cannot be installed on a domain controller. In addition, it should not be installed on a Mail/Exchange server.

  • 2.0 GHz or faster. Dual Core or greater is preferred.
  • Hard disk 60 GB system partition

Note: Itanium processor not supported.
Memory (RAM)
  • 8 GB minimum. 16 GB or greater is preferred.
Network Components
  • 10/100/1000 base
  • Gigabyte Ethernet adaptor
Operating System (choose one)
  • Windows Server 2016

.NET Framework
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 Full Profile

Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • IIS 7.5 or higher (This installation wizard will prompt you to install IIS 7.5, if it is not already installed.)
