Requirements for the MIP Cloud Classic UI

Internet Connectivity & Browser Requirements

For On-Premise Users, System Requirements are shown below:

You should meet or exceed the following system requirements. Also note the optional Alerts and EWS (IIS) Server requirements at the end of this document.  

Server:

Any computer that is running the Microsoft SQL Server, which houses the MIP database(s).  This server computer can also be used as a workstation.  

Server Hardware and Software Requirements
Operating System* (choose one)
  • Windows Server 2022  
  • Windows Server 2019 
  • Windows Server 2016 

Note: The latest service pack is recommended. 
SQL Server** (choose one)
  • SQL Server 2019 Standard or Express 
  • SQL Server 2017 Standard or Express 
  • SQL Server 2016 Standard or Express 
  • SQL Server 2014 Standard or Express 

Note: The latest service pack is recommended.  

Note: The SQL Server, regardless of version of type, must be installed using mixed-mode authentication. 

Note: For systems with the Advanced Security module, Microsoft SQL (in full 32-bit or 64-bit) is recommended to avoid database constraints when using the Advanced Organization Audit. 
Internet Information Services (IIS) 
  • IIS 10 or higher (The installation wizard will prompt you to install IIS 10, if it is not already installed.)  
Processor (CPU) 
  • 3.0 GHz or faster. Dual Core or greater is preferred.  

Note: Larger networks and databases require faster processors. 
Framework (for EWS only) 
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8, Full Profile.  

Note: You must install this framework before running the MIP™ Server installation. 
Memory (RAM) 
  • Minimum 16GB. 32GB recommended for optimal performance. More memory may be required for larger databases. 

Note: Please refer to Microsoft’s SQL Server requirements. 
Available Disk Space 
  • 200GB recommended. 

Note: Hard Disk Space will need to increase as your database size increases. For systems with the Advanced Security module, additional space may be required depending on setup of Advanced Organization Audit. 
Optional 
  • A RAID array can be installed and configured depending on your tolerance for disk failure. Microsoft recommends that write-caching capabilities of disk controllers be disabled (unless the manufacturer specifically specifies SQL Server database compatibility). 

Workstation(s):

Any end-user computer that is running MIP™ and/or the HR Management module for MIP™. All workstations must have connectivity with the Microsoft SQL server. 

Workstation Hardware and Software Requirements
Operating System* (choose one)
  • Windows 11 recommended. 
  • Windows 10 (64-bit) 

Note: The latest service pack is recommended. 
Framework (for HR users only) 
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8, Full Profile.  

Note: You must install this framework before running the MIP™ Workstation installation. 
Processor (CPU)
  • 3.0 GHz or faster. Dual Core or greater is preferred.  
System Memory (RAM)
  • 8 GB minimum. 16 GB or greater recommended for optimal performance. 
Available Disk Space
  • 3 GB minimum. 8 GB or greater recommended for optimal performance.  

Note: Please refer to your Operating System requirements. 
Printer 
  • Laser printer (local or network). See below for more information on printers. 
Connectivity 
  • Internet accessible browser with the latest service pack. 
  • For HR and EWS users, Microsoft Edge is recommended. 
  • NOTE: If the workstation is hosted on a local intranet, internet accessibility is not required. 
Email 
  • An SMTP email system is recommended for emailing within the application. 
  • Office 365 is available in MIP Classic for manual functions such as sending invoices or vouchers. Automated email functions such as Alerts and Scheduler still require an SMTP connection. 

*Additional Supported Server/Workstation Operating Systems and SQL Servers: For customers that do not meet the software requirements above, the Community Brands Customer Support team will troubleshoot and help to the best of their ability. Should a Community Brands software defect be discovered on these Systems, Support will attempt to resolve the problem in a future release or will suggest a viable workaround.  

The Support team will give prior notice before ending its support of these systems.  

  • Apple macOS systems are not supported by MIP Cloud but can be accessed through a Microsoft Remote Desktop application, which is available as a free download from Microsoft. MIP does not currently offer any customer support for macOS systems.

Note: Itanium processor not supported.

  • 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet adapter

  • Windows Server 2022

Optional, EWS (IIS) Server:

The EWS module requires a server running IIS on the network. We do not recommend that it be installed on the same machine running SQL server. It cannot be installed on a domain controller. In addition, it should not be installed on a Mail/Exchange server.
