Thriving with MIP® to Support Mental Health in Kansas

Central Kansas Mental Health Center’s (CKMHC) mission is to make life better in their communities by providing excellent mental health services, education, and integrated care which exceeds patients’ expectations. The center is a federally qualified healthcare center and serves around 4,500 patients annually, with growing patient volumes.

After running into issues with their old accounting software, Sheila Srna, Director of Finance at CKMHC, began looking for a better way to manage the health center’s finances.

She found MIP Fund Accounting. In 2018, CKMHC switched to MIP and never looked back.

“We really built MIP to grow with it,” Srna said. “It gave us flexibility…When we went into MIP, we knew it was a system that we could grow with.”

Srna said the most significant benefit of MIP was its flexible chart of accounts, allowing the center to quickly differentiate between its multiple departments and locations. It was a significant time saver from the center’s old system and more efficiently presented its fiscal data.

Key takeaways include:

  • How CKMHC uses MIP to manage and oversee its funds and differentiate between multiple departments and locations through allocations and internal controls
  • How MIP helps CKMHC to tell its financial story, and generate reports quickly and more efficently
  • How CKMHC easily processes Electronic Medical Record Payments, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll, and end of year/month transactions
  • Why CKMHC continues to use MIP today with full support
