What started in a garage in Austin, Texas, and has grown to be the industry’s leading fund accounting software, MIP Fund Accounting was created for those who make a difference. While our software is helping nonprofits nationwide, MIP’s greatest resource is its people.
MIP’s teammates strive to provide top-notch service and be true partners through your MIP journey, from getting to know you, your organization, and your needs to creating comprehensive solutions customized for every aspect of your organization.
The MIP team has multiple centuries of experience with individuals with backgrounds in accounting, technology, implementation, support, customer service, and more.
MIP Fund Accounting is nothing without its people. Here, we asked some of these people for their thoughts on why they like MIP and their day-to-day work:
1. Meet Mike Puffer
Mike has been an Account Executive with MIP Fund Accounting for over two years. As an accountant with a wealth of experience, his drive and passion for helping nonprofits work towards their mission helps organizations increase efficiency daily. He loves how nonprofits can use MIP’s general ledger:
“MIP’s general ledger will segment out specific activities for faster, more detailed reporting. This feature of our general ledger would have saved me so much time in my former accounting days. With MIP, you can easily filter for a specific activity center with an activity code. This makes running a profit and loss statement for a specific activity center incredibly simple in the MIP system. No more Excel for reporting!
2. Meet Greg Bailey
Greg is a senior account executive at MIP Fund Accounting. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, he helps nonprofits do more with fewer resources, and he knows this wouldn’t be possible without MIP:
“I love that MIP can help nonprofit finance and accounting leaders do more with often fewer resources and manpower. It’s great to help those leaders streamline tasks and improve efficiencies so they find time to get more done. They usually wear three or four hats in their organization. So it’s great to help them do more to help others.
3. Meet Chris Smith
Chris Smith is a Senior Solutions Engineer at MIP with 11+ years of experience, with more than a decade of experience as a controller. He is passionate about using his accounting experience to help nonprofits accomplish their mission and thrive daily. With a rich accounting background, Chris loves how MIP is endlessly configurable:
“Having worked in accounting offices for 15 years before joining MIP, I know the struggles of having to do manual processes and building your own analytical reporting (or as I called it, ‘Living in Excel’). So imagine my surprise when I came to work for a software company designing accounting software that configures to your organization in so many ways. MIP is designed specifically for nonprofit organizations, municipalities, schools, and native tribes so that you can get the reporting, budgeting, and analytics you need as a unique organization, all while offering a myriad of automations to minimize the need for manual processes. It’s the software I wish I’d had to do my accounting for so many years.”
4. Meet Sarah Keppler
Sarah is a Senior Solutions Engineer at MIP with 9+ years of cumulative experience. She is dedicated to helping nonprofits save time and increase their daily efficiency. For Sarah, MIP’s reporting is unrivaled:
“I’m so glad I get to work with MIP and the organizations it helps. The reporting capabilities save so many users so much time! The segmented chart of accounts plays a huge part in that, giving the flexibility to not only choose the number of segments they have and what they are tracking but then mix and match what detail is pulled into the reports to get exactly the granular detail they need when they need it. Grant Administration is another great way to track and report on grant details and supporting documentation all in the same system. Keeping everything together and easy to access!”
That’s just a sampling of our incredible MIP team. If you want to learn more about the software that drives the people, this guide explores common scenarios nonprofits face where fund accounting can help.
